All-in-one tanks and complete systems: what reef keepers commonly use

Tanks with the filter built into a rear chamber, sometimes sold with the light and pump. Below are 2 items we see often, each with our honest note and where to view it in the UK and the US.

We sell nothing and earn nothing from these links. Prices are as each retailer's page showed them on the date checked, and they change. How this guide works

Listings checked . How we check

What should you look for in all-in-one tanks?

  • Room in the rear chambers for a heater now and a small skimmer, filter roller or top-off sensor later.
  • Exactly what comes in the box. A "complete" kit often still needs a heater, and some need a light.
  • Spare parts sold in your own country, including pumps with the right plug.

Red Sea MAX NANO G2 Cube

Brand: Red Sea

  • Level: Beginner
  • Price tier: Premium

Our note. A 20 gallon all-in-one with light, return pump, skimmer and gravity top-off, so most of the core kit arrives matched. It costs more than building a nano yourself, no heater is included, and the UK listing we found is the version with the earlier ReefLED 50 light.

Key specs

  • Total system volume 20 US gal (BRS)
  • 17.7 x 17.7 x 17.7 in (BRS)
  • Return pump 250 GPH (BRS); 950 lph on the UK listing
  • US kit: ReefLED G2 60 light; UK kit: ReefLED 50 light
  • Nano XL skimmer and gravity-fed ATO included; heater not included

Waterbox Cube 20 AIO

Brand: Waterbox

  • Level: Beginner
  • Price tier: Mid-range

Our note. A plain, well-made 20 gallon cube with a built-in rear filter and return pump, leaving you to choose the light and heater. Good value as a blank canvas, but there is no lid and the UK stock was sold out when checked.

Key specs

  • 20 US gal / 76 litres
